Very busy tonight. Had reservations for 7pm, but didn't get seated till 715. However, food and staff are awesome. One of our favorites.

Awesome Filet Mignon Steak Salad on the Veranda. Great service and cute servers. Nice atmosphere and great food as all the Don halls locations. Since I am eating outside and can't speak for the Gas house per say lol

Just had the most amazing lunch at Don Hall's. The breadsticks were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, the gumbo was fantastic, my Kentucky Breakfast burger was perfectly cooked with its runny egg on top, and my husband's smoked brisket sandwich was delicious! I wish we lived in Ft. Wayne just so we could eat here regularly!!!

  • Nancy B.

Had lunch here today. Burgers were excellent but very large. Fortunately there were two of us so we were able to split one. Buns are fantastic. Fries pretty good. A nice surprise was the breadsticks that arrived at our table. Very good although they were rather sweet. Love the decor. Have not been in a long time so I don't know when it changed, but it's quaint now. Perfect for that building. I thought burger prices were a bit high but when you share, it works out great.

Aside from the service, which was mediocre at best, the atmosphere and food were absolutely incredible. Fresh flowers and crisp linens invoke the excitement of spring. The server did not smile and was not terribly helpful (even in offering a glass for a bottled beer. The salmon was cooked to perfection. The grilled pear salad did not fail to delight.

Our 2nd visit to this location and still has an amazing atmosphere with great customer service from the time you walk into the door. The food is delicious and attention to detail on its preparation. Definitely a place to share with others for a wonderful evening out. My favorite is the salmon and prime rib.

  • Ashley M.

My fiance and I decided to split the sixteen ounce prime rib, which was good. I will say their homemade horseradish sauce was amazing. Creamy with just a bit of bite. Their black current vinaigrette was also wonderful. We ate outside, which consisted of only three tables. It would have been better with a little music from the speakers installed outside. Also, if they could add a giant umbrella outside that would be a bit more pleasant. Otherwise, it was good. I would recommend splitting the prime rib, otherwise your bill will be very expensive. We spent $33.00 for the plate and an iced tea (tax and tip too). I would give this place 4/5.

I visited here during the Three Rivers Festival. We had lunch and were very satisfied with the selections, price, and quality of the food. The restaurant was built in one of the original buildings of Fort Wayne. When the natural gas started to run out, they produced a replacement gas on site. If you have time, the placards in the building pointing out historical information were interesting.

  • Cathy D.

Excellent burgers! It's clear that everything is done with care and with attention to detail. That plus the cool old building and atmosphere was enough for five stars.

  • T. J.

Ok, this place is always on my Ft. Wayne "To do" list when in town. I usually stay downtown so it's perfect walking distance from any hotel. In the past I have just gone late nights to The Deck. This is an extension of the restaurant mostly for late night drinks with a limited food menu. However, this visit I actually got to eat dinner there. The Jambalaya Risotto was perfect! Didn't think I could finish it all but each bite just got better and better and my plate was clean! Finished it off with a couple drinks on a The Deck. Great food and great place to chill out.

Go with the Delmomico steak, a perfect mix of fat makes this a juicy tasting steak. Can't go wrong with the perfect sized cut!

  • Scott S.

Service was fine, little slow but she was a good server. The food wasn't very good. Prime rib was tough, barely warm and not seasoned at all. Baked potato wasn't warm and was so hard it was barely edible. Crab cakes were grey. Grey? Barely edible. Atmosphere is nice, but this was a poor dining experience. There has to be better food in Fort Wayne.

  • Jeremy F.

+1 for ambiance. Great outdoor deck, tiki torches, trees growing through the deck...ordered the filet mignon medium rare with sautéed mushrooms and a baked potato. Potato was lukewarm but the mushrooms were soooo tasty and the filet mignon was actually d

Always a great idea. I've been there for lunch many times and have ordered many things, always satisfied. I've been there for dinner for the wonderfully tasty bread sticks and even better, somehow, steaks. For lunch you can have bottomless soups and salads... like wedge sales and their gumbo... and bread sticks. One could get 8n trouble going the bottomless route, we'll worth it though. I've also had great burgers, chicken, and their brisket rivals any in town. Good drinks too. Overall, I would have no suggestions for improvement. The ambiance is wonderful too. Sitting next to the guy playing music on the weekend is just surreal.

  • Reagan M.

Great locally owned family restaurant. Great burgers & I never leave w/o devouring their wedge salad. They have rooms you can reserve for rehearsal dinner & meetings as well as an outdoor restaurant/bar (The Deck) that has a limited, casual menu. A Fort Wayne tradition for a good reason.

  • Giovanna G.

I have been to this place a million times and I don't like it because it has the best food but because it's a great place to go with kids, or after a movie downtown with a couple of friends for a drink and an appetizer, or for a casual last minute dinner or lunch with parents or friends. Weekdays or weekend alike. On the menu there is something to make everybody happy, I love all the salads and the tuna steak sandwich, the breadsticks are delicious too. We are not talking about fine dining but I am always happy when I go and with family, friends and kids we always go back. Make reservations though on Fridays and Saturdays. The Deck is the "Memorial day to Labor day' outside space of the Gas House and It's the best place in Fort Wayne. Priceless is the area under the porch on the river. The Deck is divided into the bar area (great selection of cocktails and unbeatable ambiance in fort Wayne) and the restaurant area where it is always packed and they don't take reservations. Sometimes service is slow outside (inside normally excellent) but just relax and enjoy the view!

Came into town to eat here with family and 2 little 2 year olds. I was hesitant (because of the 2 year olds) but staff made us feel right at home. They know kids! We barely sat down and they has applesauce and bread sticks to keep them entertained as we explored the amazing menu. The kids lunch is huge, plenty for dinner tonight. Dont be mislead by my review, they cater to adults as well. The food was nicely priced and quality. This is a definite place to be while in Fort Wayne. For us it is a must return location to try all the items on their menu.

To be honest, I had absolutely no idea this place existed in Fort Wayne. Due to some great date planning, I was presented with a deck, helpful service and a view of the St. Mary's River. Loved it! (We decided that the fish we ended up ordering probably didn't come from the river.) We started with an order of the Tacos de Bele. Perfect for sharing. Pairing the tacos with an Oberon was also a smart choice. As we finished up the appetizer, we moved on to the main course. I opted for a regular burger with a side of fruit. Was the burger ginormous? Yes. Delicious? You betcha. Good enough that I took those leftovers right home with me. When first arriving at the restaurant, I was a little thrown off by the Takaoka sign on the main building. But upon further investigation, I quickly spotted the deck area. I was overly impressed by this place and would definitely return when I'm in the Fort Wayne area again.

The Deck is my favorite place in Fort Wayne right now. Great extension of the restaurant.

First things first - this was my first trip to the Gas House, but certainly not my first time out to eat. All things considered, I'm not sure how often I'd recommend this place to anyone. To start, our service was borderline bad. To be fair, this may have been limited to our server. She was slow, not attentive, offered no opinion or information about the menu, and even tried to deter us from ordering beer, as they are "out of so much". She also never mentioned any other type of drink, including a draught list. All in all, she would receive a 2 out of 10. Our entrees were nothing to write home about. My wife ordered the fried chicken sandwich (the breaking was much too salty) and I had the smoked brisket, which was mediocre at best. We both opted for the near-flavorless Halls Fries, which are basically homemade potato chips. The one saving grace was the spinach artichoke dip. It is served in a large soup bowel, with a mountain of hot pita triangles. It was delicious, but we left wishing we had just ordered that and been done. Not sure we will return, but do try this place if you're on the fence. A lot of people seem to like it - I just thought you might benefit from my honest, down-to-earth assessment. Bon a petite

Have not been for a long time, but I doubt anything has changed to make it bad, so I stayed at 4 stars until I can visit again soon. But the meat was cooked to my liking and served quickly with a delightful little salad bar at the time. I know remember this even now because I went with someone that has merits but not that interesting for extended periods of time. The time went so quickly though all I have is a great memory of this historic dining spot in Fort Wayne.

Wow... Showed up to try go to the deck but since it looked like rain they were going to close. The very sweet hostess at the deck suggested we tried inside at the gashouse. We've eaten there many times. The service we have noticed declining over the years. We were seated at a booth but promptly kicked out of the booth by another employee. Very rude. The we were told we only had an hour and ten minutes to eat if they did seat us due to a reservation, I said that's fine I don't want to set here and spend money anyhow! Turns out that table was taken already, wow hall's used to provide such quality service but that's not the case anymore. We just left.... Disgusted and went to Henry's where our business is appreciated!

Went to The Deck for dinner on Sunday only was hungry for an appetizer so I ordered the Mexican shrimp cocktail. It was tasty, good spicey cocktail sauce, but skimpy on the shrimp for $ 14.00! There were 2 medium/ large shrimp and 5 small along with more than enough water crackers. For the price I would have expected just a few more of the larger shrimp and no need for the tiny ones!

  • Keith H.

Great people. Great food. Great atmosphere at the bar! Get the surf and turf if it's on special. Caesar salad, lobster, steak, and loaf of bread were all off the charts. I will be back for sure.

This is an icon in Fort Wayne that you must try at least once. The building is an interesting structure and has been updated in recent years. The food is always solid. My favorite is the prime rib of course. They have a nice salad bar - not an over whelming number of choices. The service is always professional. This place serves as a hub for lots of other activities. All the horse carriage rides in town leave from here. You have to try the DECK that is associated with the Gas House and Takoka which is located upstairs.

  • Shaden M.

I enjoyed the seating outside where you can see the river and it was the perfect for the summery weather. At night the lights turn on which was nice. It's a relaxing atmosphere and you can come and meet your friends here and have a drink at the bar. The food was good overall and big portions so come hungry. I have not tried everything yet but I had the seared salmon salad and it was ok. Still need to explore other dishes which I look forward to.

  • Steven H.

Overall a good dinner. The food and service was good, the ambiance is not why you'd go here. The roasted pear salad was great, as was the jumbalia risotto - very good flavor and huge portions. The bread they serve is not your standard table bread, very good. The deck in back is also a great find, but a slightly smaller menu to choose from.

Wanted to eat at an interesting restaurant on our trip back from Ohio. We decided to stop here based on yelp reviews. We were not disappointed. I had the wedge salad and and a spinach, sausage and tortellini soup. Excellent! My husband enjoyed his double fisted burger and pit beans.

I attended a work Christmas party dinner there this evening. We had a reservation and were told when we arrived that we only had an hour and a half to enjoy our meal because they had someone booked after us at 7:30. The staff made us feel rushed to order and eat. At 7:25 a hostesses told us we needed to leave because they had another group. This was the rudest experience I have had during a holiday meal. There were 16 in our party, so I am sure our bill was several hundred dollars. The food was good, but the experience was not. Our relaxing evening turned into a night where we left feeling like an inconvenience instead of appreciated customers. We left feeling bad for our employer, who's well indented celebration with his employees turned into a dine and dash. I would never recommend this place for a large group during the holidays.

This place is pretty good. Here's my take on it: GOOD: - Cool building - Good location - No wait for a table at lunch - Neat, old, woody interior - Quick, friendly service BAD: - Nothing bad. FOOD: - Their gumbo is really good, obviously homemade, and very tasty. Get this! - My entree salad was so-so. The greens were a bit limp, and the whole salad was a bit small, especially for an entree. - My colleagues' meals were equally good but not great. This is a neat place in this city, but would struggle in a big metro like Chicago, New York, Atlanta, etc., because the food is average.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Fort Wayne. Went here for the first time when we had out of town visitors and I was so glad we did. Everyone was impressed with the food. Service was good - have been back 3-4 times since our initial visit. Host staff can be a little odd, but overall a great spot!

Went to Ft. Wayne with the hubby so he could get a tattoo - after we ate here. It was a great day out, so we opted for The Deck outside. I didn't realize it had a limited menu outside, but we had drinks and felt committed to staying at that point. I got the PoBoy which in this case is a big fried fish sandwich and fries. The hubby got the cheeseburger and fries. Our waitress was INSANELY NICE - wow! I didn't know people could be so good at their jobs anymore. We were really thirsty so she just dropped off a carafe of soda at our table - score! The food was delicious and the view of the dirty river was really nice and relaxing. I want to go back and try out the inside!

This restaurant really is a gem. I loved the atmosphere of the Dining area, the light live music - that seemed perfectly appropriate, our waiter was great, and the food was phenomenal. I definitely recommend the Prime Rib with their homemade creamed horseradish, the Jambalaya Risotto, and the mushrooms as a side dish were phenomenal! Ignore the Takaoka of Japan sign, and embrace the dark woods and relaxing yet sophisticated atmosphere of Don Hall's Gas House. PS: I still have dreams about that Risotto.

We stopped in almost accidentally, and am so glad we did! Great food (a burger and prime rib w/lobster), great service and beautiful atmosphere. We will definitely come back if we make our way through Fort Wayne again.

We've been a fan of the Gas House since our first visit. It's our go-to restaurant when we're craving a big, juicy burger that is actually cooked to order in a more stylish setting. The atmosphere of the Gas House - the darkness, the wood, the intimate-style booths and tables with candlelight - along with the kindness and professionalism of the staff really make it a no-brainer when you're looking for affordable, American, no-fuss meals. I think this place is so popular because the dishes are so inviting. Besides the burgers, we've had different cuts of steak, the grilled shrimp and several of the salads - everything is always superb. I also DIE for the bread they put on the table - it's not your typical white yeast rolls - it's a real, fresh-baked-tasting loaf of bread with a crunchy crust, soft and buttery center, and wonderful salt and herbs crusted on top. I highly recommend this place!

I grew up in Fort Wayne, one block from Hall's Prime Rib on East State Street. Bottom line...I was back in town last week for a week of R&R and met some high school buddies at the Gas Haus. Hall's prime rib is not the best in the world but it is damn good -- a distinctive flavor to the jus and the price is right. Every time I'm back in FtWayne to visit family I hit Hall's. It's soooo good!! Stevie 666

In town for work and in the past wasn't overly impressed with the chain restaurants the Fort Wayne area has to offer. Decided to heed the other Yelp reviews of the Old Gas House and give it a try. First off, I was a bit confused because the building had a sign on it saying "Takaoka of Japan" but upon closer inspection both restaurants are connected. After being seated I was presently surprised to see a respectable beer list with detailed descriptions of each selection. Prices seemed very fair (at least compared to what I'm used to in Chicago). Having had a late lunch I wasn't super hungry and settled on the prime rib sandwich. While the "famous" prime rib inside of the sandwich was good I think the roll was even better. Oh yeah, the bread they bring out for you to snack on before your order comes out is pretty good too- I think it had a combination of salt, garlic and onion sprinkled on top of it. Let's just say I had to ration myself so that i would have room for the rest of my dinner. While probably not a 5 star when compared to big city restaurants the Old Gas House definitely holds it's own in Fort Wayne. If I'm back in town for work I will make sure to keep them on my list.

It may not sound like a lot, but this restaurant is easily my favorite memory of the time I spent three months working near Ft. Wayne. The food, atmosphere, staff, and the food (that's right, that good) make dining at DHGH an amazing time. The last time I ate there, I had the most phenomenonal seared sesame ahi tuna ever. Ever. In fact, I still think about it, and i haven't eaten there in almost a year. Christ, why haven't I been back yet? Between the tuna, prime rib, and good local craft beers, this is a perfect place for a date or a guys' night out. Love this place. Just a shame it's in Ft. Wayne.

First - review of Hall's. The inside seems a bit "old time-y" in appearance. I haven't eaten inside here often, except a few times I came at lunch. Pretty much loved it! Every time I came, I ordered the prime rib sandwich, which was more like a huge cut of prime rib placed over a piece of bread, all for around $7. WINNING! Second - review of The Deck. I LOVE this place! The ambiance is so nice and relaxing. I wasn't sure how the food would be, but dang it was good! I had the loaded tater tots, and OMG, they were so good... all of my friends were eating off of my plate. Their drinks are priced just right. I was nervous about the drink, because it was so big and fruity - usually my experience with those drinks is that they are weak and end up upsetting my stomach because it's just a glass full of sugar. However, these drinks actually turned out really good! They tasted great, and weren't disappointingly weak like I would have expected -t hey were just right... not too much, not too little. It's pretty cramped because it's so busy and not that big. I wish they would build a bigger deck! LOL The wait to eat is like over an hour for sure during a typical summer night. One thing I will touch on - some people that live here complain that it's just some small deck next to a smelly river. HELLO, this is not Chicago or NY... seriously, why complain?? Everyone loves it... stop being a Debbie Downer... LOL. If you want something super spectacular, move to L.A. or something like that. This is Fort Wayne, people. You are as fun as you and your friends make it! The surroundings definitely help. It's right next door to all the downtown places and when there are festivals... pretty much in walking distance, so it's pretty busy during festival time or when there's concerts. The boat rides are fun! I rode the faster boat (not the pontoon), and the guy was really fun and the ride was nice; it was something different than just going out to the bar. AND... you can bring your drinks with you... SWEET. Third - review of Takaoka. That IS a part of Hall's, right?? IDK... I know that I LOVE Takaoka!!! Get a group of 10 or less and order some hibachi and saki bombs. It's like a tradition in our group! Their steak hibachi is sooooo good. Well... actually, everything is good, but my fave is the steak/chicken combo. The staff is super fun and friendly. If you plan on making a reservation, you better plan way ahead of time, because I call in advance every year and can't get anything before 9pm. And they don't take more than 10 people (have someone else call to reserve the other 10???). I highly recommend, and there really are no "con's" about this place.

Unfortunately everything about the expertise was unpleasant. There were flies all over in the restaurant which made for an uncomfortable setting . The food was not good. We tried the chicken and sausage gumbo that tasted like seasoned water. Then to top it off my BBQd shrimp was served with a fie floating in the gravy. The manager was nice to take it off of our bill. We do not recommend this restaurant.

I met an old college friend here on a Sunday early in the afternoon. I was in Auburn; Fort Wayne was roughly halfway between us so we met there and chose the Old Gas House rather by chance. It's located adjacent to a park by one of the rivers. It's in a well-built early 20th-century building. The interior has beautiful woodwork and ceilings. The food was fine. I got the bleu cheese and bacon burger, which was very good. My friend had a salad and some sort of shrimp side dish. She said they were OK, nothing special. The waitress brought her the wrong salad but my friend lived with it. The waitress was very friendly; she obviously knew several of the diners at other tables. We enjoyed a long meal and then went for a walk along the riverside path, which is easily accessible behind the restaurant parking lot. A few years ago, they where known as a place that had gone down hill. Or (referred to as gone down hall)? Since that time, they have "down-sized" the chiefs finding The Gas House is known for steaks, prime rib and the like and it is still very good. new and exciting employees, "for Don Halls". They have a wide-ranging menu from burgers to fillet mignon and from chicken to salmon and we have never had a bad meal despite many, many visits after that first one. We will also say a rare steak is actually cooked rare here, which is worth a LOT of points to us. We have never sent a single thing back here which we sadly cannot say about too many restaurants we have patronized time after time. The Gas House is a busy place, so reserve or do what I recommend, (also call ahead and ask) ,,,, leave your name, a cell number and go wander downtown Fort Wayne or the adjacent Headwaters Park, then come back when the table's ready. A word to management,,,,if you cannot get new table flowers every few days (our waiter said they come every 10 days to 2 weeks) please don't put any out. There was nothing sadder or more comic than having a grand meal and doing it with a small vase of dead carnations in the middle of the table. It was not a deal-breaker but we would have been better off without them.

Recently had lunch on THE DECK - really nice place. Lunch outside, near the river, with the typical Halls food and service, which is to say, really good local fare.

In Ft Wayne on business and came by quite late. The waitress was very nice and the atmosphere was just what was needed after an extra long day of work. Tried the seared yellow fin tuna appetizer and it was outstanding. Very clean tasting and flavorful. I highly recommend it. Went with the prime rib and it was good. Prices were very good and definitely recommend.

It's not too often that I crave a dish from a restaurant here in Fort Wayne...probably because we are over-saturated with chain restaurants and mediocrity. But the fried chicken sandwich is SO GOOD. First of all it's practically large enough for two to share, the two breast that it comes with doesn't even fit in the whole bun, the breading is kind of spicy and the cole slaw it's topped with is delicious. Side of fries, my night is complete. What else do you want from me, stop reading and go eat there!

Hall's Restaurants seem to have gotten a reputation around Fort Wayne for being the favorite dining establishments of the city's elderly population. Why this may be true in some ways, Hall's has great food for great value and the "oldies" seem to understand this, the Old Gas House has charm and culinary pleasures that appeal to diners in every generation. I love the traditional feel of the Gas House. Pictures of Fort Wayne from a time when the city was still booming in automotive commerce line the walls and old menus are framed to showcase the "good old days" when steaks only cost $4. The food at the Gas House, while traditional, is always prepared well and to order. I'm a fan of the Cod dinner...order it blackened for a spicy Cajun treat, Hall's knows how to deliver a kick. All dinners come with two of the restaurant's many sides; I like the Mac & Cheese 'cause its made with really zany noodles and the green beans because they are buttered up and delicious. Order a salad (or a trip to the salad bar) with your meal to sample Hall's homemade Poppyseed dressing, it is SO good. In the summer, be sure to visit "Nick's Boardwalk." This is the deck that is connected to the Gas House restaurant. The two restaurants share the same kitchen but each has an entirely different feel. The Gas House is family friendly while the deck appeals to a more adult crowd...it's a great place to have some great bar food and stiff drinks on a lazy summer evening. The boardwalk competes head-to-head with Fort Wayne's other outdoor dining local, Club Soda. Skip the Soda and head to Nick's for a less pretentious atmosphere, better drinks, and better value! Definitely the coolest place to eat outdoors in Fort Wayne.

Ordered the Don O's Ribeye. It was gristly and undercooked. Sausage hash didn't really go with the steak. Hollandaise on the asparagus was congealed.

I ate at Takaoka, new restaurant in the same building as Gashouse (upstairs). It should have it's own listing on Yelp. I am a big fan of Hibachi and look for a Hibachi table in every town I travel to. I was served by the first non-asian Hibachi chef I have ever met. His skills were exceptional. I eat Hibachi often and usually something is overcooked. Not this time. The fried rice, shrimp, scallops, vegetables were all perfectly prepared. The atmosphere was jovial and the restaurant is nicely presented. Service is fast and very good. If my travels bring me back through Fort Wayne I will eat here again.

I hadn't been to the Gas House in at least 15 years. Was pleasantly surprised to see the remodel. I was quite thrilled with the menu---a variety of different items not typically seen in FW, like seared sesame crusted Ahi Tuna. Everything sounded too yummy and it was hard to make a decision. I'm giving it 3 stars because this place has the right idea of being great, but it's not quite there yet. The "warehouse" room has a great vibe to it---kinda hip, kinda big city. But the staff is kinda not. I have to agree that the staff here are "typical" Hall's employees. A little sloppily dressed (and that could be because of their lame uniforms---come on Halls, step it up a notch. Class it up a bit, eh?) The older waitress called my Dad "sweetie." This isn't even remotely cute. Sorry, but this is a huge pet peeve with me and it is unacceptable at a finer dining establishment, IMHO. The steaks were cooked perfectly as they should be: they are known for their steaks and they did not disappoint. The 12oz "durwood" was cooked perfectly and had the right amount of black pepper. At $23, this is expected. (I agree with the other reviewer who said you'd expect to pay double in California. However, in CA you expect the steak-at-double-the-price to melt in your mouth. This did not.) I docked a star because my Mom ordered the "Crab stuffed Portabella Mushroom" and got a grilled portabello mushroom with a half-ass crab cake on top of it. We asked the waitress about this and she made us feel as if it were our fault for not reading the menu correctly. She neither offered something different nor a way to amend the error. It was NOT a portobello mushroom stuffed with crab & hollandaise sauce. It was a portobello mushroom and a pre-made crabCAKE. Big difference if you know what I'm talking about, especially when you get it in your head you've ordered one thing and it comes out another...a little disappointing.) Anyway, beware. The mac & cheese is not made on site. It's made at their Commisary restaurant and hauled over. Thought this was a little disappointing for the kind of "class" it's supposed to be. Makes me wonder what else is not made on site. For dessert we split a creme brulee. It was a huge portion, really. however it was borderline custard and I swear i detected cinammon on the top of it, which distracted from the true flavor...maybe they knew it was more custard like? We requested a booth, they gave us a table (while the two booths next to us remained unseated for the duration of our dinner). Also, we were never presented with a cocktail menu, which they are supposed to be known for their drinks. it was not crowded at it took EONS for drink refills, the dessert, the check. We started off super excited when reading the menu, but the service and the staff (especially the way they handled the "stuffed" mushroom) left a lot to be desired.

Ate here with my mother for lunch the other day. Staff was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was nice too. Lots of cozy dark furnishings. They serve you breadsticks to start with (we were given one each), and I wonder if they are fried they were quite greasy and crunchy. Vaguely reminded me of an unglazed donut. I'm not sure I have an opinion on the breadsticks. I had a Caesar salad with the seared Tuna. The salad had too much dressing (but the dressing was good), so I would get it again, but ask for dressing on the side. The seared tuna was...lacking. It just didn't have a lot of flavor. My mother had the grilled chicken club with fries. Both were quite good (yeah, I steal food from my dining companions - guard your plate when eating out with me!). The sandwich was HUGE. The toast was buttered, so between that and the bacon, I cannot imagine it was any good for her heart health. She was super hungry though, so she did manage to eat almost all of it. Very impressive. I'd come back to try something different.

Not from the area and the place was recommended by a local. Was expecting some decent Midwest fair but was simply blown away by the food and value. My Canadian visitor and I had Filet's that could only be described as perfect. Quality of meat excellent cooked to perfection with a awesome but simple butter sauce. Best steak in years for me. This was accompanied with some asparagus cooked and seasoned to perfection and the side dishes were not ignored. Let's go back to the appetizer, a huge portion of sesame crusted Ahi Tuna. Yes this is Ft. Wayne but it was spectacular, better than anything in California. The only downside was no soy sauce for the wasabi but it was not a detraction. Washed this down with some local beers (Muddy river?) that was recommended and superb. While I don't usually go for desert we jumped in just to see if anything here was "weak" and again treated to greatness. I had an orange cream brule with strawberries that was excellent. My friend picked a slice of raspberry chocolate cake and what arrived was about 1/4 of a cake, he could not finish it but tried hard! Service was top notch, fast and friendly and was not scared to reccomend dishes when quizzed. Not a real fancy place, comfortable and with damn good food at a very reasonable price. The 10oz Filet's were $23 and would have gone for almost double in California. I'm constantly travelling and not a big steak person but this was one of the most enjoyable meals in more than a year.

Solid, enjoyable meal with quick service. A good steak and sliders, tasy onion rings. The Cajun gumbo still needs some work to taste authentic. Good selection of local beers.

Stopped on for lunch. We just had sandwiches but the food was better than average and the price was right.
